Daniel Bailey

Co-Founder & CTO, Astraea

Daniel Bailey is a Co-Founder and the CTO of Astraea. He brings a wide range of disciplines to the development of Astraea’s technology and its future roadmap. Daniel served as the Director of Commercial Analytics at Elder Research, a leading machine learning and data science consultancy that works across sectors including insurance, energy, healthcare and government. A decorated war veteran, Daniel served as an officer with specialization in Signal Intelligence. He holds degrees in Applied Mathematics and Advanced Analytics from North Carolina State University.

Tom Barton

General Partner, Broken Arrow Capital

Tom Barton is a serial entrepreneur and investor who has decades of experience building and running technology companies. He is currently a General Partner at Broken Arrow Capital. Most recently, he served as the CEO of Diamanti, a venture-backed company focused on managing enterprise level Kubernetes applications and data. Prior to Diamanti, Tom was the COO of Planet where he guided the company’s strategic and operational roadmap. He also served as the CEO of Rackable Systems, interim CEO of Cygnus Solutions and as an Venture Partner at Lightspeed Ventures. Tom has bachelor degrees in History and Industrial Engineering from Stanford University and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Bob Bashaw

President, II-VI Corp

Bob Bashaw currently serves as the president of II-VI Inc., a global leader in engineered materials and optoelectronic components. Prior to II-VI, Bob served as a senior partner at the law firm of Sherrard, German & Kelly and is a member of both the Pennsylvania and Maryland bars. Bob received his bachelor’s degree in logistics from Penn State University, and his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

Brendan Richardson

Co-Founder & CEO, Astraea

Brendan Richardson is a Co-Founder and the CEO of Astraea. He brings a diverse set of experiences and skills from his 30-year career in which he has been deeply involved with early-stage start-ups as a venture capitalist, board member, entrepreneur and Limited Partner. Prior to Astraea, he was a co-founder and the founding CEO of PsiKick, a successful Ultra-Low-Power wireless systems company backed by leading VC firm, New Enterprise Associates. Prior to starting PsiKick in 2012, he was involved in early-stage ventures as a Silicon Valley based venture capitalist from 1993 to 2007. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Virginia where he teaches Entrepreneurial Finance. Brendan received his B.S. in Finance from the McIntire School of Commerce at UVA.

Geoff Woolley

Founder, Patamar Capital

Geoff Woolley is the Founder of Patamar Capital, a international impact venture capital firm focused on southern and southeast Asia and is also the chairman and co-founder of University Impact, a Utah-based student-run impact venture firm. Prior to Patamar, Geoff has spent his career identifying and creating new asset classes in and around the venture industry. He pioneered the concept of venture debt and has invested in over 400 companies during his time as Managing Director of Dominion Ventures including Ciena, Coinstar, Hotmail, and Human Genome Science. In addition to Dominion Ventures, he co-founded European Venture Partners (now called Kreos Capital), Unitus Capital and the University Venture Fund, the largest and most successful student-led venture fund in the U.S.

Geoff received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from BYU, and his MBA from the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah.

Director, Children's Investment Fund Foundation

Florentin is the Director of Evidence, Measurement and Evaluation focusing on Technology and Data Analytics at the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, a multi-billion dollar London based Foundation focused on solving seemingly intractable problems around child welfare, health and wellness as well as global climate change. Before joining CIFF at the beginning of 2020, Florentin led digital transformation programs and global technology operations as Chief Information Officer and IT Director with organizations including OFGEM, United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, EUMETSAT, and Amnesty International. Florentin holds a Master’s Degree in Management from the Hult Ashridge Business School – UK and a BSc in Engineering from University Politehnica Bucharest – Romania. He is an industry representative to the UK All Party Parliamentary Group on Artificial Intelligence.

Bob Creeden

Managing Director, UVA LVG Seed Fund and New Ventures

Bob is the Managing Director of the University of Virginia Licensing and Ventures Group (LVG) Seed Fund and the Director of New Ventures at UVA. He has a wealth of experience in venture investing and supporting the growth of innovative companies pioneering new markets. Prior to UVA, Bob was the Founding Executive Director of the Blackstone Entrepreneurs Network in the North Carolina Research Triangle. He spent 20+ years in Boston as the Founder and Managing Director of the Innovation Fund at Partners HealthCare in Boston, as a General Partner at Egan Managed Capital and a VP at Mass Ventures. He also served as an Adjunct Professor at Tufts University. Bob has a B.A. in Economics from College of the Holy Cross and an MBA from Suffolk University.
